Shea Week 8

Today’s lesson/experience at Shea went really well. Grace conducted a lesson on time management during which we all shared our personal agendas and tactics in making agendas. Some people had planners on a website, on their phone, or in a notebook. We discussed the definition of time management and how useful an agenda can be when balancing academics and personal events. We then proceeded to the computer lab where students made a schedule for the week online and printed it out to help them time manage this week. We explained to students at the end of the lesson that while our CL, Tara, would be returning next semester, the rest of the PC volunteers would not. We explained that since college runs on semesters that we would all be changing classes and therefore not returning to Shea due to different schedules. A few of the students expressed sadness that we’d be leaving and one noted that he’d “miss us” while another said that they’d “have to get used to all different people.” While this was sad, it was good to know that these students find our sessions beneficial and that we’ve made at least some impact on their lives. Next week, we will be having our final session/celebration while simultaneously discussing college/any lingering questions students may have.
