EXPLORE week 4
This week at Shea we worked mostly in the computer lab on the Way-to-go RI website. We had students fill out what career/major they would be interested in and then we had them look at their high school schedule and compare it to the classes that the website indicates would match up with their desired/designated career and/or major they are interested in. The students when in the computer lab were very focused and engaged and that showed us that they were very interested in finding out what their high school plan should be and they were serious about the EXPLORE program. As we were leaving this past Tuesday one of the students said, "It stinks that you guys only come on Tuesdays." This one student in particular has a lot to say all of the time but he really enjoys the time that we spend together and cares about his future. This was a good experience this week at Shea, and we all could see that the students were there not just as a way to spend their afternoon but as a way to plan for their future.
